  4. This README file contains information about the graphic screen
  5. and text screen drivers currently available from WordPerfect
  6. Corporation for WordPerfect 5.1.  See the Installation
  7. Instructions below to find out how to install the correct driver.
  8.  
  9. The drivers currently available are found on PTR Program/Graphics
  10. and Graphic Drivers.  The PTR Program/Graphics diskette ships
  11. with the standard WordPerfect 5.1 package; the Graphic Drivers
  12. diskette does not.  You can order the Graphic Drivers diskette
  13. for WordPerfect 5.1 by calling WordPerfect Orders at
  14. (800) 321-4566.

  16. Video controllers are listed below with the available resolutions
  17. and the name of the .VRS file that is designed to support them.
  18. Text screen drivers are noted by "(Text)" after the resolution.

  895. STANDARD.VRS contains several of the most common graphic and text
  896. screen drivers combined into one file.  .VRS files beginning with
  897. S_ (e.g., S_CGA, S_HERC, S_EGA, S_VGA, etc.) contain the
  898. individual drivers extracted from STANDARD.VRS.  These files are
  899. provided for users with two floppy drive systems who require
  900. additional disk space for program operation.
  901.  
  902. These drivers and STANDARD.VRS are designed to be used
  903. separately.  Therefore, STANDARD.VRS should be removed before
  904. copying any of these drivers to your working program diskette to
  905. prevent duplicate entries in the Setup menus.

  908. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  910. First, look through the list of video controllers and locate the 
  911. controller name and resolutions that match your hardware.  To the
  912. right of the resolutions are the names of the corresponding .VRS
  913. file(s).  Copy the .VRS file(s) into the same directory where you
  914. installed WordPerfect 5.1.

  916. Important:  The .VRS files found on the PTR Program/Graphics
  917. master diskette are in a compressed format and need to be
  918. installed properly before they can be used.  If you chose not to
  919. install the .VRS files or have not subsequently done so, you need
  920. to do so before you can use them.  Note:  The .VRS files found on
  921. the Graphic Drivers diskette are not compressed and do not need
  922. to be installed using the Installation program.

  924. Second, select the driver in WordPerfect.
  925.  
  926.      1    Press Setup (Shift-F1).
  927.  
  928.      2    Select Display (2), then select Graphics Screen Type
  929.           (2) or Text Screen Type (3).  (See Graphics Screen Type
  930.           or Text Screen Type in WordPerfect 5.1 Reference for
  931.           more information.)

  933.      3    Move the cursor to the type of display card and/or
  934.           monitor you have, then choose Select (1).
  935.  
  936.      4    Move the cursor to your specific display card and/or
  937.           monitor, then choose Select (1).

  939.      5    Press Exit (F7) until you return to the normal editing
  940.           screen.
  941.  
  942. Any .VRS files (except STANDARD.VRS) that do not pertain to your
  943. hardware can be deleted to free up disk space.
